Tyler Dockery, creative lead at Dockery Design, was recently asked to judge collegiate student portfolios for the FDA at North Carolina’s Wake Tech University.
The FDA (Future Designers of America) allows students the opportunity for many extra-curricular activities, learning opportunities, speaking engagements, contests, and of course, portfolio reviews. On Monday, January 18th, Tyler Dockery will be judging Student portfolios with a mind toward getting reviews from real working men and women in the field of graphic design.
FDA students are committed to being the very best. They have full lives, active student class schedules, but they have chosen to heap extra-curricular engagement on top of their already full plates. Designers from all levels are encouraged to join this group, and opportunities abound for those who are willing to add FDA activities to their roster.
How will these students stack up? Will their work set them on a path to secured employment? Tyler Dockery is optimistic.
“If you are willing to risk everything, then you can achieve anything. These students are willing to go above and beyond the classroom, but they are also welcoming constructive criticism. If the students present their work, and are willing to make the improvements suggested… there’s no reason they won’t come out of the experience with a stronger portfolio.”
FDA students are always looking for internships and employment opportunities. If you know a person or business who might benefit from an “FDA-Approved” student, please contact Wake Tech Instructor Marsha Mills or Tyler Dockery directly.
