Presentations: 2 Minute Training #9: Bring Your Whole Presentation With You. The Whole Thing. And A Backup.
When presenting, don’t leave anything to chance. To do so will only invite folly.
Avoid this grievous error by bringing your entire presentation with you. All of it. With YOU. Every part. And have a backup, just in case.
When presenting, make sure you have everything that you need to show your materials.
When presenting electronically, have a laptop that you can use for presenting set aside. This doesn’t have to be a top-of-the-line presentation model (although it might be preferred). Just something that can run your powerpoint (ecccch!) or preferably present your PDF materials without crashing. This needs to have your presentation pre-loaded on it, and ready to go.
You need to make sure that you have a full battery (and possibly a backup) and a power cord that works. It would also be smart to have one of those 3-prong to 2-prong electrical adapters on hand. Running out of power in the middle of a presentation is tantamount to failing to finish your presentation. You will look unprofessional at the very least, and like a nincompoop at the very worst.
Will you need a projection screen? If the answer is anything but a confirmed NO, it would behoove you to purchase one for presentation purposes.
Carry a backup of your presentation on disc with you at all times. If you have a crash, or the file isn’t working properly, you can always work off the disc itself as a last resort. If you are not working with an electronic presentation, having a backup on disc can save you if an accident causes one or more boards to be destroyed. At the very least, you can run it to a copier, and put together individual packets for each person (make extras, just in case). Also, having a backup on disc will allow you to download it to a clients’ computer if requested.
ALSO, just from a safety and clarity position, having your presentations on backup disc will allow you to compare your next presentation to your last presentation and keep a consistent brand. You can go back to previous presentations, and borrow design elements, text, graphs and wordings as needed.
Don’t get caught with your pants down. Keep those money-making presentations very close at hand in an effort to keep yourself and your business looking good!

This is getting a bit more subjective, but I much prefer the Zune Marketplace. The interface is colorful, has more flair, and some cool features like ‘Mixview’ that let you quickly see related albums, songs, or other users related to what you’re listening to. Clicking on one of those will center on that item, and another set of “neighbors” will come into view, allowing you to navigate around exploring by similar artists, songs, or users. Speaking of users, the Zune “Social” is also great fun, letting you find others with shared tastes and becoming friends with them. You then can listen to a playlist created based on an amalgamation of what all your friends are listening to, which is also enjoyable. Those concerned with privacy will be relieved to know you can prevent the public from seeing your personal listening habits if you so choose.
