Networking: 2 Minute Training #13: Don’t Sell to a Networker… Really.

The point of networking is this: You know about 50 businesses and business owners. Those businesses or business owners each know 50 businesses or business owners. So by introducing your product or service to one individual, you have the potential to contact 2,500 businesses.

So why are you trying to hard to sell your product to the 1 networker you are talking with at your networking function? The answer is: you shouldn’t. Don’t try to sell to a networker… really, don’t do it. Tell them what you have, and why its a great benefit, but make sure to couch things appropriately.

Do you know someone who…? Have you met someone who…? Have you ever heard one of your clients say… Would you like to be able to offer your clients….? Did you shake your head when someone…

Ask for connections to a networkers friends and business partners. Reach 50 when you concentrate on 1 person. Don’t force a rejection from 1 person. Don’t sell to a networker… Really.
