After a crash, you receive an error message:
The Organizer Database is damaged and will be reset…
So what went wrong, and how can you fix an error like this? Adobe Acrobat 8 sometimes returns an error message, “The Organizer database is damaged and will be reset the next time Acrobat is launched. Quit the application and close any currently open web browsers.” This error can occur when you open Acrobat, when you quit Acrobat, when you open or close a PDF file, or when Acrobat unexpectedly quits; and it recurs even if you relaunch Acrobat. Following your normal error recover pattern does not seem to solve the issue, and it seems to occur repeatedly as if to taunt you.
Solution: Recreate the organizer folder.
This error occurs when an Organizer data file is damaged. Delete the organizer folder, which contains the Organizer data files, to force Acrobat to create new, undamaged replacement files.
To delete organizer on Mac OS:
- Quit Acrobat.
- In the Finder, choose Go > Home.
- In your Home folder, open the Library folder.
- In the Library folder, open the Acrobat User Data folder.
- Do one of the following:
- If you are using a PowerPC-based Macintosh computer, then open the 8.0_ppc folder.
- If you are using an Intel-based Macintosh computer, then open the 8.0_x86 folder.
- Move organizer to the Trash.
- Restart the computer.
- Open Acrobat.
To delete organizer on Windows:
Note: These instructions require that you locate hidden folders. By default, Windows Explorer doesn’t show hidden folders. To make hidden folders visible, see “Show hidden files and folders (Windows XP, Vista)”
- Close Acrobat.
- In the Windows Explorer, navigate to one of these folders:
- Windows XP: C:\Documents and Settings\[your user name]\Application Data\Adobe\Acrobat\8.0
- Windows Vista: C:\Users\[your user name]\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Acrobat\8.0
- Delete organizer.
- Restart the computer.
- Open Acrobat.

First off excellent page. Im unsure if it has been talked about, but when using Firefox I can never get the entire page to load without refreshing several times. Could just be my modem. Appreciate your work
@julene Gurne, hmmm… Not sure what’s happening there. I use firefox almost exclusively, (I’m on MAC computers in the office) and I haven’t seen the issue. If you are using a modem still, first of all, congratulations— Not all of us can. Secondly, modem use has become somewhat flaky since everyone is pushing technology involving DSL and cable and satellite so hard. I will keep a lookout over the next two weeks.
A redesign for this blog is imminent (within the next few months anyway), and these are exactly the kind of issues we’re trying to fix and hoping to avoid. Thanks!
I got this error for a long time, but I was able to get around it with this. Thanks!
Well, I just bought an updater for my driver and it just fixed my problems. It worked like a charm.
What you posted here is true. I got some rude comments about it on another site though.

Hey great website, I noticed your website when doing some research on how to develop my blog. I was just now inquiring which spam pluggin you utilize for comments as I get tons on my blog.
Hopefully more people can learn from this post what I have. A great contribution to the world at large.
When I see a lot of spam coming from the same address, ip, or company, I remove the URL. we use nofollow here anyway for comments, so anyone spamming here is not knowing what they are doing.
Beautiful site. I decided to help and submitted to social bookmark. I hope the visitors to your site go up.

Damaged Organizer Database, Thanks for the note. I didn’t see a link anywhere… But I’ll keep an eye out.
The organizer database is damaged and will be reset. Please close all open online applications and restart. This solved the problem for me. I did have to restart though, and lost a lot of my Safari tabs.
I am currently reading this on my Blackberry. I love your site. I’ll be checking your materials on Networking and marketing strategy.
Hi – really great site you have established. I enjoyed reading this posting. I did want to write a remark to tell you that the design of this site is very aesthetically pleasing. I used to be a graphic designer, now I am a copy editor for a marketing firm. I have always enjoyed functioning with information processing systems and am trying to learn computer code in my free time (which there is never enough of lol).
hi. I can’t believe this actually solved my problem. Thanks!
Thank you. If there’s something you’d like to learn about specifically, send us a message through our main site, and we’ll move on that.

When my adobe acrobat organizer database was damaged and was going to be resent, I didn’t know how to fix it. I followed the advice on this page, and it didn’t work.
But, ah, I didn’t follow the right instructions. After I deleted the right file, everything went swimmingly.
Hey very nice blog!! Man .. Beautiful .. Amazing .. I will bookmark your blog and take the feeds
umm… I am no expert here… but this sounds like a memory problem. Is all this junk really necessary?
Will Smith is the bomb. Such a talented actor. Hopefully he never raps again, though! haha. I know that doesn’t have much to do with Adobe Organizer databases, but what the heck.
I might be slow (lord knows I have been told lol) but some of these comments make absolutely no sense what so ever… Have you people followed the instructions? This worked like a charm for me…
Thanks for sharing this helpful info!
Saw your Blog bookmarked on Reddit. I wasn’t able to fix this the first time around, but I misread the directions. All Issues solved now:

Great article. There’s a lot of good info here, though I did want to let you know something – I am running Redhat with the latest beta of Firefox, and the layout of your blog is kind of quirky for me. I can read the articles, but the I can’t seem to leave a comment.
